Learning about the genocide in Gaza is an important first step to understanding the over 75 year occupation and oppression of the Palestinian people.

This page will provide access to learning resources to assist members in their quest to understand exactly what is happening in Gaza and why the Western world is standing idly by whilst a population is slaughtered.

Materials

Where should I start?

Most people live busy lives and a reality of this is that they get most of their knowledge about Palestine filtered through the mainstream TV and print media, such as the BBC, LBC radio, or The Times newspaper.

Unfortunately these are not reliable or trustworthy sources of information about Palestine. with most Western media outfits owned by one of five billionaires whom actively dislike black and brown people.

If you think that might negatively impact the stories you’re likely to hear on this media outlets then you’d be right!

Because of this we’ve put together a few resources that will help orient you towards a human rights based understanding of Palestine.

When shopping look for barcode starting with ‘729’, which denotes Israeli products. But Israeli producers do try to cover up their origin by using other numbers, (link), this is only a guide. Many items will have a country of origin. If not, ask. Let the store know that you boycott Israeli products.

    • Dieter Schwarz’s family office fund, Zukunftsfonds Heilbronn (ZFHN), is gearing up to invest millions in Israeli technologies. The fund plans to invest between $500,000 and several million dollars in Israeli seed and pre-seed companies, focusing on areas like IoT, robotics, autonomous driving, energy systems, new materials, and biotech. source

    • Most of the banks are complicit in some way, but Barclays – having also been a massive supporter of apartheid South Africa – should be singled out.
    • Take Action
    • In the last action (Fri 9 Feb) at least 1500 people closed their accounts with Barclays. See video at this twitter link .
    • There will be 2nd joint account closure day as 21 Mar 2024 (UN Day Against Racism). Once again, we’re asking Barclays customers to signUp and pledge to close their accounts – it’s important people sign up so we provide instructions and a way for them to inform the bank’s senior management of their actions.

    • Was recently awarded exploration rights off the coast of Israel, which would include water which should be Palestinian controlled.
    • It’s unclear whether BP is exploiting Palestinian oil and gas, but it certainly investing in Israel
